[NEW SINGLE] “Vocal Lines” (Produced by Substantial) Now Available for Streaming on Bandcamp. Available on All Digital Streaming Platforms on May 17, 2021

As some of you may know, I released a single this past Friday – May 7, 2021 – in time for the final Bandcamp Friday entitled “Vocal Lines”, a seductive banger produced by my mentor and Big Brother from another mother, Substantial. This sexy summer track is the lead-off single from my upcoming EP, A Sapphic Summer, whose release date will be announced once it’s fully completed and ready to drop.

“Vocal Lines” is a song about the alluring power of a person’s voice and how it can be a motivator for lovemaking. What will the perfect voice move you to do?

You can listen to the complete track and also purchase the single in the Bandcamp Player above. The single will be available on all digital streaming platforms on May 17, 2021. In the meantime, pre-save “Vocal Lines” on Spotify so you’ll be the first to be notified the moment it is released by clicking here.

[NEW SINGLE] “Hymnal for the Lamented (The Substantial Remix)” Now Available on StephanieGayleMerch.com and Bandcamp.com

Even after the holidays, Christmas at 7222, Vol. 2 is still in your rotation, and I love that, seriously – thank you. Turns out, my Big Bro and Mentor Substantial was moved by one of the songs from the project and, uh…we made a REMIX!

“Hymnal for the Lamented (The Substantial Remix)” is the name, and it is NOW AVAILABLE on Bandcamp and StephanieGayleMerch.com today, on Martin Luther King, Jr.’s actual birthday – I figured it would be fitting since this song is about celebrating and honoring people who are no longer with us.

Click on any of the links above to hear the track or purchase it for your own personal collection. You can also click on the hyperlink below so you can pre-save the song for Spotify, because it will be released there and several other major platforms next week.

By the way…Happy New Year.

Substantial’s First Instrumental LP, “The Garden”, Is Available Now

At long last, the album that you’ve all been anticipating is finally here! The first instrumental LP from internationally-known MC, Substantial, is entitled The Garden, and was inspired by a trip to the Bronx Botanic Garden in New York City. Besides being a legendary MC, Sub has always had a talent for production, though it has rarely been displayed on a world-class stage – until now.

This album features a cultivation and array (see what I just did there?) of talent from the likes of Marcus D, Gerson Zaragosa, Malcolm Jackson, Uyama Hiroto, and of course, yours truly, who is featured on the only track that has sung and spoken lyrics, “Beyond The Stage”, which can be heard on this site by clicking on the player below.

You can find and purchase The Garden on all major streaming sites worldwide. Click the photo above to be directed to Substantial’s Bandcamp page with the album.

Substantial – “Made In Maryland” feat. Steph, the Sapphic Songstress & DJ Jav

Happy New Year, everyone! 2017 has now arrived!

With a new year comes new music, and what better way to lead it off than with a single from Maryland’s finest MC, Substantial. With anticipation growing for his upcoming 4th LP, The Past Is Always Present In The Future, which will be released digitally on Jan. 6 (the day before his birthday, mind you), Sub has dropped a lead-off single for the masses – an ode to his home state entitled “Made In Maryland”.

The track features fellow Marylanders DJ Jav on the 1s and 2s, and of course, yours truly providing melodic vocals to season the background with extra flavor. Substantial hasn’t done an ode to the great state of MD since “Home Sweet Home”, the late, great DJ Deckstream-produced track from his debut LP “To This Union A Sun Was Born” – that was in 2000; basically, this was long overdue.

“Made In Maryland”, appropriately produced by Maryland’s favorite producer Oddisee, has a grit to it that captures the struggle that one could possibly encounter when traveling through the Free Line State. Believe me, there’s more to it than pretty trees, the Chesapeake Bay, and CrabFest. But, as Tonedeff put it: “Shit so hard, I’m about to move there!”

Come take a ride  with us, then cop The Past Is Always Present In The Future on Jan. 6. Available on Bandcamp and SoundCloud.
